Situated 45 minutes North of Indianapolis in the City
of Peru, IN, Grissom Air Reserve Base is a bustling center for US
Air Force preparedness even as most of its land and facilities are
being readied for civilian uses. It keeps a portion of its jet fighter
fleet on alert 24 hours a day. It hosts a major air show each summer.
It is affiliated with a And it still generates reams and reams of paper files and, like many federal government operations, has been urged to find ways to handle them more efficiently. "They found us through our website," says Jeff Nelson of Elkhart, IN-based Bolt Document Management. "The first time around my wife, Cathy, who is the president of our company, and I had an introductory meeting and demo for a couple of people in the comptrollers department. Their goal was to be more efficient. Our challenge was to show them that LaserFiche could do that and deliver a solid return on investment. "We were then invited back for a longer presentation. There were 12-15 people in the room with everyone asking questions. We spent an entire day with them. We used their files and kept coming back to LaserFiche's ease of use and scalability. We also emphasized its practical value as a day-to-day office system. "We didn't get the order at that session but
it did persuade them to specify LaserFiche in their RFP. It turned
out that we were one of 10 bidders. We weren't the low bidder but
were selected anyway. They said we won because our bid was clear and
understandable and did not include camouflaged numbers." Grissom issued its purchased order to Bolt right before the close of the federal fiscal year at the end of September. Bolt completed the installation shortly thereafter and is returning for training later this week. |
